A light rain began to descend upon Atlantis, forcing John and Teyla
to return inside to the city's warmth. The sun was beginning to
rise through the clouds, a new day on the way. Teyla and John
walked through the halls, hearing groans as they passed by some
rooms. Not everybody was ready to wake and get back to work.
Teyla turned to John, her face exhausted, they had stood silently on
that balcony for hours. "Major? Do you believe this place will
ever feel like home?"
John smiled tiredly at her. "It already feels that way. To me,
home is where your friends are. Where people you trust are a minute
or two away. Home is a place I will do all it is in my power to
protect. Atlantis is home." John's pace began to slow as they
neared Teyla's quarters. "Perhaps you should get some rest. I'm
headed to my own quarters, maybe I'll be able to sleep without
dreams now that I know the sun has risen."
"A new sun brings hope." Teyla walked into her quarters, leaving
John with a smile and a slight wave she had learned from the Earth
humans.
"Hope. Yes, we all need to keep hope in our hearts and souls."
John went to his quarters and slept with pleasant dreams of surfing
in Hawaii.
