Fic: Not for Me, G, John/Rodney

Title: Not for Me

Summary: After Rodney is rescued he goes back to Earth, leaving John a note.



John watches Rodney pack up his stuff in his quarters for his leave to Earth. Rodney has a bandage on his face and arms. John stiffly holds his own broken ribs. John had nearly died while rescuing Rodney, but they don’t go into it. No apologies on either side, Rodney for letting John be hurt by needing to be rescued, John for Rodney needing to be rescued in the first place. As Rodney passes John by he gives him a piece of folded up paper, it says ‘read later’. John tucks it into his pants pocket. They don’t hug as Rodney leaves, they never did, and now they never will.

Later, John sits in his room and opens the paper. Inside is a poem scratched out in ink.

“Stop staring
Look everywhere else
What do you see?
Is it all about me?
Or is it life all around
Moving at different paces?

Do you care?
Can't you live for life's sake?
Why is it me you live for?
I'm nothing
Not worth dying for
Not breathing for
Or making every decision for

Stay still
Wait till I’m gone
Then forget me
It's what you need to do
I'm leaving
I won't come back
But I'll miss you
Don't miss me back.”

John wipes the tears off his face and goes back to work.

It is sad, sorry. I wrote the poem first, but it just seemed to fit those two. I can't believe I broke them up! Bad mind.
