Author: libra_traveller
Rating: PG-13
Summary: John watches Rodney go down.
Time seemed to slow as I watched Rodney’s body jerk and then fall to the ground. Shots kept ringing around me, but I couldn’t take my eyes off him. My name was shouted from my left and I instinctively ducked. Then, not caring about my own safety, I crawled towards him. There was so much gravel hurting my knees and hands as I moved, but I didn’t care.
When I reached his body I touched his limp hand, moving my fingers to his wrist. For a second I couldn’t feel a pulse but then it jumped at me and I could finally breathe. I took stock of the rest of him, his jacket bloody by his shoulder, his eyes closed. I moved to his head and cradled it, feeling wetness and a knot amidst the hair. He’d hit a rock when he fell.
Suddenly, I became aware of all the noise going on around me and the danger we were still in. I took my weapon and pointed, shooting towards the trees. Then I grabbed Rodney by his waist, lifting him up a bit and dragging him towards some bushes and rocks, a place to hide.
As soon as I positioned him carefully, I listened to Teyla’s calm voice asking me if Rodney was okay. I told her he would be, then took a bandage out of my vest pocket and began wrapping it around the shoulder wound. I also took some gauze and pressed it to the back of his head. I checked it and not too much blood came off. I got a second bandage and wrapped it around his head.
Nothing left to do for him but wait.

on 2007-06-01 03:51 am (UTC)When I first received my BA, I didn't know what to do (English), so I stuck around and did the MA (English), then went and did and MLS in Library Science.... So, I have too much education because my brains have been leaking out my ears ever since.
