Life's no picnic when your heart lays on the floor and someone gleefully stomps on it. That's what it feels like when I see John in the boat telling me I'm going to fail. Even before the real John appears I know it's not him, that he's just replacing my father in this all too common nightmare. Still it hurts to think that he would some day turn on me as my own father did. Yet, as the real John rows with me I realize how much this man is willing to do to save me when I need him.
