Disappointed with Travelers

I hated this episode from the very beginning. I've read some reviews and a few times I've heard people saying that Larrin was a strong female character. The idea of her was strong, the execution awful. I have to say that I would rather have a weak female character as long as the acting was good. To me, putting such weak acting on this strong show, was inexcusable. If they were having trouble casting, maybe they should have realized the reason that they couldn't cast for the part was because the part was shit to begin with. Which brings me to my other point, the writing was awful. The torture scene had no real motive and wasn't emotionally charged at all. Every word that came out of Larrin's mouth had me laughing in disgust, not just delivery, which was bad, but the words themselves. There were also many plot holes and bad character choices. I loved last week's episode, and I am happy that the show will have another season, I just hope the rest of this season doesn't bomb like Travelers.

I think because I found Jill Wagner's acting lacking, that much of what she said also lacked in impact. I found the episode decent (if only because got to show his smarts in taking over the ship). What they should ahve done if they couldn't find a good actress is cast a guy, then dump the kissing scene (and Sheppard, guh, was pretty smart up until THAT point).

Yeah, maybe it could've worked better with a guy. I think the whole sexual tension thing shorted out the impact of meeting a civilization living on ships. That's a neat idea, but the delivery didn't work for me.

ITA about her not giving a strong performance. Was actually really nonplussed about it until almost the end.
And now that I think about it, shouldn't there have been more surprise, etc about finding a whole race of people with big cool ships.

Yes, I wanted more focus on the new culture, would've been more fun if we saw more of the people and their way of living.
