Hmm, this 25 first lines in fic meme. Should be fun. I'll just stick with Atlantis. I do some paragraphs, some just a few lines.
1) The world is dark, not really the world, just my view of it. I sit in this dark cell, no window, not even the sounds of the outdoors penetrate the brick walls. - Ficlet without a name.
2) "Hey, I just got new sheets." - Christening
3) Life's no picnic when your heart lays on the floor and someone gleefully stomps on it. - Savior
4) "Kiss me darling.”
“Oh, how I love your beautiful wild hair. Oh, let me touch the soft strands with my hand.”
“Only if you kiss me at the same time.”
“Your lips invite me, your eyes enthrall me. Oh, how can you be true? Never wake me from this dream. Let me sleep forever if only I can be with you.”
“You’re mine. My sweet, sweet man.”
“Oh, yes, my love. Together we are in heaven.”
“Kiss me, kiss me more.” - Payback
5) Rodney sat on the pier, his bare feet dangling over the water. He looked up towards the sky, the same sky he saw most days since coming to Atlantis. In a sigh of disgust he stood up to leave. He stopped as he saw John standing near the opened door.
- Bitter Days
6) John lay on the infirmary bed anxiously awaiting Carson’s prognosis. His back ached and his thighs felt swollen. John refused to think about what else was swollen, making sure to avert his eyes whenever they drifted near his stomach. It seemed unfair that the day had started out normally enough. - Missing Scens of Bun in the Oven
7) He found her lying underneath her favorite chair, a wooden rocking chair outside on the porch. At first he just thought she was sleeping as usual, but her black fur wasn’t stuck up in tufts that her breathing always made. She was ten years old and had been in the family for six of those years, a stray that had been wandering from house to house finally stopping at the McKay’s house when Rodney put out milk and tuna for her. Rodney had been eight years old then. - Cat's Cry
8) When Rodney was eleven, his cat died. He had her buried in his backyard, holding a ceremony and everything. The neighborhood bully lived next door and grimly watched as Rodney poured dirt over the tiny furry body, tears streaming down Rodney’s face.
- How it Started
9) Time seemed to slow as I watched Rodney’s body jerk and then fall to the ground. Shots kept ringing around me, but I couldn’t take my eyes off him. My name was shouted from my left and I instinctively ducked. Then, not caring about my own safety, I crawled towards him. There was so much gravel hurting my knees and hands as I moved, but I didn’t care.
- He's not Invulnerable
10) It was the first quiet meal they’d been able to share in weeks, just the two of them in John’s quarters. Rodney had come down with a cold a few days ago, but John was determined to have this night together anyways. In between talking about work and just enjoying a comfortable silence, they reminisced over the past. They could now tell each other about those moments they rarely shared with anyone else.
- Stenosis
11) I’ve never felt so cold inside as I do here. Not even when I was in Siberia and knew with certainty that Sam didn’t give a damn about me. Then I just had frost bite. But here, knowing that John will never care about me the way I care about him, my heart’s turned into a solid piece of ice. I go through each day not able to feel any part of my body, and at night when I’m alone, my face is covered in frozen tears. - Passion
12) I’ve never felt this way before. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been happy. I’ve even been in love. But this feels different. It’s not that I care more about him then I’ve cared about other people. Nor is it that I think he cares more about me than others have in the past. It’s not about that feeling of utter safety and comfort, or how he makes me laugh and frustrates me in the same breath. Though when we’re together intimately and it’s amazing, it’s not about that either. Yes I would give my life for him and he’d give his life for mine, but that’s standard. - Special
13) Weir sat at the head of the table, her advisors, Sheppard, McKay, Zelenka, and Caldwell sitting around her. All of them had been informed that the Wraith were preparing themselves for a war, not just against Atlantis, but every planet. Not to feed, but to exterminate. Ever since Dr. Beckett implemented a variance on the Hoffan drug, the Wraith could no longer feed. They were going to die and they planned to take every human with them. - It's Time
14) The curtains were closed in the room, the lights turned low, silence ruled the room. Rodney sat on his bed, knees to his chest, staring at the wall across from him. He had been like that for seven hours, ever since he had been released from the infirmary. In his mind all he could see was the John he had met in his coma, the one that smiled genuinely at him, who took care of him. In counter to that image was the sound of John’s voice, the one that was just his friend, who cared, but not as much as Rodney needed.
- Face to Face
15) It happened on a normal mission, checking out a village on another world. They were walking down a hill, and Rodney’s foot hit a rock, and he fell head over feet into a boulder at the bottom of that hill. When John and his team ran down after him they found Rodney unconscious. Ronon picked Rodney up and they moved as fast as possible to the gate. Back on Atlantis, Rodney would not wake up and Carson confirmed their fears in saying he was in a coma. John stayed by his bedside whenever he could, but it did not look like Rodney would ever wake up.
- True Voice
16) Rodney McKay received a call to go down to the control room. He found Caldwell there waiting for him with a letter and memory card in his hand. He handed both of them to Rodney, telling him to read the message on the memory card before opening the letter. He hinted that it would be better to do it in private. Confused, Rodney headed to his quarters.
- Old Memories Surface
17) They had been running for hours. The sun had since gone down leaving Rodney and John in total darkness as they moved through the trees. Both of them were hurting from the fight with their captors, but they escaped and that was all that mattered.
- Cherished
18) John watches Rodney pack up his stuff in his quarters for his leave to Earth. Rodney has a bandage on his face and arms. John stiffly holds his own broken ribs. John had nearly died while rescuing Rodney, but they don’t go into it. No apologies on either side, Rodney for letting John be hurt by needing to be rescued, John for Rodney needing to be rescued in the first place. As Rodney passes John by he gives him a piece of folded up paper, it says ‘read later’. John tucks it into his pants pocket. They don’t hug as Rodney leaves, they never did, and now they never will.
- Not for Me
19) They propelled John towards a sparkling throne where a man in lavender robes sat. The candle holders placed in the wall were made up of purple three-headed trolls. From the ceiling swung crocodiles with feather masks. Monstrous glass shells were placed at the four corners of the room, a disembodied voice whispering Shakespearian English sonnets, backwards.
- Trickery
20) The lights flicker in the Gate Room. Everywhere she looks there are corpses strewn against the consoles. There is a huge hole where the stargate used to be. Everything they have worked for is over. She stares into the eyes of their last chance to change everything. His once dark hair has turned grey and his posture once a careful slouch has turned painfully straight. He stands in front of a Puddle-Jumper, modified to take him back to a time before everything went wrong.
- Necessary Evil
21) Elizabeth walks down the hall towards Radek’s quarters. After Sheppard had told her to check out what was done to Radek’s face, she decided she needed a break from questioning her decisions. She knocks on his door and Radek opens it. He has a towel in his hand and his face is wet but none of the paint has come off. She can’t help herself and starts laughing. He actually growls back at her.
- Cleansing the Soul
22) The plane ride was grueling after weeks in the Daedalus. Sitting still had never been John or Rodney’s forte. Not to mention, the space ship now seemed luxurious compared to this airliner. There had been beds and comfortable chairs; here the seats were incredibly small. At least he was not alone, which still surprised him. He had yet to figure out why John Sheppard had decided to come with him. Though John had assured Rodney that he just needed some relaxation after their last battle with the Wraith, Rodney had the feeling that he was watching over him by coming on this trip. Either way, it was nice to have company on this trip to Toronto to visit his sister Jeannie, even if John was being overprotective.
- Ashes to Ashes
23) Rodney - Will you get on your knees and put that filthy mouth around my engorged dick? - Conclusion to Inquisitive Minds
24) It was a cloudless night and two men sat at a campfire. One sat leaning against a bag to support himself, looking out past their fire. The other was leaning over his knees, staring at the fire.
“I’m just curious, why were you so calm when the girls were following you everywhere in the village?” Rodney looked up from the fire and met John’s eyes.
“Oh that, I’m used to it.” John shrugged.
“What?” Rodney looked baffled.
John glanced at him then looked at the fire trying to figure out how much to explain. “It’s just, I’ve always had girls chasing me. Literally.”
- The Crazy Things Little Girls do to Young Boys
25 It was a normal day for Rodney McKay. He was in his lab working on various Ancient tech, when he got a call to the control room. They had received a message from a space ship careening its way towards the city. He listened cautiously to the message that consisted of yips and the occasional ‘we come with good will’ comment. He did not know exactly what to do, as it was not everyday a ship came at them. All he knew was that they were not Wraith and they sounded pleasant. Suddenly two strange aliens beamed down into the city near him. They were red and orange furry things, with strange bulging eyeballs, and antennas on the top of their heads. They did not seem to have feet and they floated a foot above the floor. Rodney passed out.
